History

The Joshua House Church was launched on September 11th 2011. However, Our Story doesn’t begin there. Our Story Begins in 2002 when Rev. Hendricks began hearing the call of God for a greater work. Feeling unprepared he chose to remain still and further seek the Lord in prayer. In 2004, after having two separate minor surgeries on his throat, Rev. Hendricks was confined to his home for 4 weeks without the ability to speak and only spending time with God in prayer. It was in this season, in the basement of his home that the Lord revealed his plans for his future.  The Lord spoke a resounding word to Rev. Hendricks, saying “I’ve called you to be a Pastor”.  After shedding what felt like an ocean of tears, Rev. Hendricks agreed with God and for the next few minutes began sketching out a download of the vision for this new work.  It would be called the Joshua House Church – “The House of Salvation”. At this time, under the leadership of Dr. Donald Ray McNeal, Rev. Hendricks began to consider the vision and where this new church would be established. Under the leadership of Pastor Clyde Ruffin, Rev. Hendricks was allowed to open his home for a weekly bible study in Jefferson City affectionately called “The House – bible study” of which he and his wife Andria hosted several families.  Rev. Hendricks and best friend Brandon Hansberry would spend many nights in study and prayer as God began to reveal the plans and direction of establishing The Joshua House Church in Jefferson City. Preparing for the ministry ahead, Rev. Hendricks went to seminary at Liberty University to major in Church Planting and Evangelism in hopes to be prepared for the work.  It was while attending a men’s conference in Dallas Texas, with the men of Second Baptist Church of Columbia, that the Lord confirmed that it was time to launch out into the deep and begin the church plant.  Hosting services once a month during the summer, The Joshua House Church held its first pre-launch service on May 22nd, 2011 with The Hansberry’s and a few visitors in attendance.  Hosting a weekly bible study the ministry began to receive its first few visitors. After several months of monthly pre-launch services, The Joshua House Church held its official launch service on September 11th 2011 at 608 E. Dunklin. The first members being added to the ministry were Brandon Hansberry and Family, Adrian Hendricks Sr., Barbara Brison and Keyon Terril.  The Joshua House Church was launched with full support of the Second Missionary Baptist Church of Columbia and Pastor Dr. Clyde Ruffin. Abruptly being forced to move two weeks later, they held services in the Lincoln University ballroom for the next three weeks. Looking and praying for a better location to serve his people, First Lady Andria Hendricks stopped in front of a building to pray and saw a “for rent” sign in the window.  A sign that the owner and building manager later claimed to this day never existed in the window. Hoping to be an adequate place for the church to worship in, the Joshua House Church home became 911D Leslie Blvd.  Two years later, after completing the remodeling of the location, the Lord impressed Pastor Hendricks to go for a drive with his First Lady Andria.  After taking a short drive, the Lord brought them to an empty larger facility that recently became available at 1136 East Dunklin where the Joshua House Church remains today.  Through storms, set-backs, disappointment and some moments of despair the Lord continues to keep us by his Grace!
